... The Need ...

Imagine two possibilities.....

1. Your business client is a company that constantly hires new people - and has to train them. These new employees have lots of job-related questions which they ask verbally or via Email. But the answers are not saved or made available to others.

2. OR - your client could be ANY organization in which members need to exchange "human information" via an intranet or via the Web.

... The Solution ...

A Web-based application that could be just as easy to use as Email, but also saves and organizes typed messages (questions and answers) in a database under specific topics for later reference.

Over time, the DB accumulates the raw data for a company-wide "help file" or even an expert system.

Several major corporations are already doing something like this.

This is one more way to use "Web-based content management" to enable a "self-building" site.

(Also see "The Idea Factory" and "Family Web sites".)

... Implementation problems ...

The Info Exchange is not technically difficult. The key problems are human ones.....

Does the company management promote the free exchange of information between employees? Do employees really feel they are all part of a team? Will the knowledgeable individuals (who have the answers) be given time to share their expertise? How will they be rewarded for doing so?

... Reusing the code ...

To see the original ASP + VBscript code, you can't simply save source from your browser. (You would see only the generated Html.) So instead.....
